Our Pastor

Welcome Pastor Stephen Perrine

We are delighted to welcome Pastor Steve Perrine to Dearborn Good Shepherd as the 53rd minister to serve this church since its inception in 1859.

I am married to Connie and in December, 2020 we will celebrate 29 wonderful years together. We have four adult children: Jolee (Jim), Alicia (Brian), Stephen, and Karen – two grandchildren, Jack and Harry. My interests include (but not limited to) music/singing (30 years with the Detroit Concert Choir), travel, golf, reading, art, and birding.

I received my B.S. degree from Houghton College, N.Y., got my M.Div. at Wesley Theological Seminary and my MSW at Wayne State University. I have additional postgraduate studies at Wayne State University, U of M and numerous conferences and continuing educational experiences (45 CEU required for my Social Work license).

I have served United Methodist churches in urban, suburban, and rural settings with my last assignment at South Rockwood UMC for 10 years and together with Monroe Calvary for another 4 yrs. Outside the church, I have been a clinical social worker for the state of Michigan, community mental health and at Ascension Health. I currently serve on the Faith Based Initiatives Taskforce for the Detroit Wayne Co. Mental Health Authority. My spiritual gifts include preaching, teaching and pastoral care. I love the church with all its challenges and believe that Jesus Christ commissioned the church to be the vanguard of His Kingdom in this world. My focus for ministry is Jesus’ great commandment “love others as God loves us” and great commandment “go into all the world and proclaim the good news of Jesus.”
